If God is all merciful how could He put someone to hell for eternity?

because God is not only merciful but he is just.you are misunderstanding mercy. mercy is something given to the Guilty. mercy does not have to be given to all. justice is something that MUST be fair. not mercy. think of mercy as a pardon from a high government official. the official does not pardon the whole prison but he pardons one person.
