If i buy a brand new pair of scissors, and dont use it on anything but my hair, will it cause split ends?

you know how hair dressers have special scissors that they use for hair, wich are really expensive, and i dont want to pay that much for a pair of scissors. so, if i buy a brand new pair of scissors, and i dont use it on paper or anything, then can i use it for my hair? or will that cause breakage/split ends, etc. ?
